J.J.: The quilt comic

This actually happened to me, except I was working at Hobby Lobby, and there was no Amish lady standing next to me. I think I had that beard, though. Anyway, Hobby Lobby doesn’t use scanners, and a LOT of people have assumed that we have scanners. This lady in particular was having a hard time finding the, uh, “scan, thingy”(The comic is mostly word-for-word for her), and I had to interrupt her frantic searching to let her know that me seeing the price was sufficient.

This is the first Jebediah Jackson comic. You can expect to see him again, sometime. I’ve done a lot of research on the Amish. They surprisingly have VERY colorful quilts with very SHOWY designs. The quilts in this comic were inspired by actual Amish quilts I found photos of online. Although, the one with the furry critter may not be something they’d do. They do make intricate floral designs sometimes. Amish quilts can get to $1000 for a very intricate quilt. Also… drawing them is time-consuming.

In the spirit of the Amish, the Amish characters are drawn in a simple, humble art style.

I love the humor of that situation. Very good comic! For all the work that goes into making a quilt, that’s a great price, providing one can afford it, of course.
