iSquish: Good thing she has no say in this matter

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It has the power to delay August issues of comic sites. Just the fear of spoilers will make you use every single moment of the day to get it read as quickly as possible.

And to anybody who hates Harry Potter for whatever reason: Hey, we can at least agree that the statue would be pretty freaky to see in somebody’s living room.

A Common Sight

How about them low-emission horses?

Just had to get this one out before gas prices actually go down. Actually, they have started going down. I hope they keep going down as Toonfest draws near. I may be able to go hobnob with more famous cartoonists again, and my dad.

First generation device…

First off, yes, I’m using an unfamiliar art tool here. Adobe Illustrator. I might like it better if I had a graphics tablet or touch-screen monitor.

Now, the iPhone. Admittedly, it’s an awesome phone, and an even more awesome iPod(albeit with very little space). However, its phone capabilities are lacking in some areas, like an entire lack of voice dialing. You can’t even speed dial someone in less than 3 taps, and you have to look at the screen. The voice dialing, I’m sure they’ll have an update soon enough. Speed dialing, dialing without looking at the screen, I hope somebody comes out with a keypad add-on, because scrolling through your contacts can take some time, and I like buttons I can feel. The shining feature of the phone part, is visual voicemail. I wish my phone had that so I don’t have to listen to all of my voicemails just to hear one important message.

Thankfully, I don’t feel compelled to buy an iPhone. I only buy flip phones. The screen, and most importantly the buttons, are all protected with a flip phone. I’ve been called a few times by butts that sat upon a cell phone button. In fact, one time I called someone, and the person sat just right that they answered the phone without knowing it. I had a good listen-in on what was going on over there.

J.J.: The quilt comic

This actually happened to me, except I was working at Hobby Lobby, and there was no Amish lady standing next to me. I think I had that beard, though. Anyway, Hobby Lobby doesn’t use scanners, and a LOT of people have assumed that we have scanners. This lady in particular was having a hard time finding the, uh, “scan, thingy”(The comic is mostly word-for-word for her), and I had to interrupt her frantic searching to let her know that me seeing the price was sufficient.

This is the first Jebediah Jackson comic. You can expect to see him again, sometime. I’ve done a lot of research on the Amish. They surprisingly have VERY colorful quilts with very SHOWY designs. The quilts in this comic were inspired by actual Amish quilts I found photos of online. Although, the one with the furry critter may not be something they’d do. They do make intricate floral designs sometimes. Amish quilts can get to $1000 for a very intricate quilt. Also… drawing them is time-consuming.

In the spirit of the Amish, the Amish characters are drawn in a simple, humble art style.

Tarnation: Extreme Driveby Horseshoe Competition

Now that you’re done with this month’s issue, why don’t you come on down to the annual Extreme Driveby Horseshoe Competition? Just like all of the Tarnation comics, it’s around 115 years into the future, though.

Tarnation: HAIL!

You would never guess what the weather was like the day I got the idea for this comic. I considered doing this as I got the idea, but I didn’t want the glass to get chipped, so I settled for just craving some lemonade.

This was my first experience using a paint brush and India ink to draw a comic, and I must say I’m quite pleased with the results.
