In order to save $33 a year in hosting, I’ve moved all of my sites to a new server(why pay for infinite space when you only use 7 GB?). If I charged myself by the hour, this transfer would have cost more than the savings. Not worth it. One example: my email might not work. However, I know I’ll appreciate it when the next bill comes around.
I’m slowly returning things back to working order, there are still some broken things. This has definitely been a learning process. I learned from my mistakes transferring THIS site, and did a much better job with my Kenny Chronicles comics site. Over half the battle is learning a new host’s control panel. GoDaddy’s control panel tries to sell you domains every chance it gets. Not annoying, but makes me wonder where their other priorities(like hosting) sit.

Future of this site:
I really don’t know how often comics and pictures will be posted here. It became so much of a mirror of KennyChronicles.com that I’ve decided to stop mirroring the comics over here, especially with the move to twice a week. If you want more Kenny Chronicles, go to the site. Please note that the comic is rated PG-13. Since all of my comiking time has been spent on the Kenny Chronicles, you’ll likely only see single pictures, with the very occasional non-Kenny comic, on this site. Oh, and the occasional Culinary Wut Wut blog entry. I still need to blog about oat burgers. Thems are good.

I will be getting the gallery of Toonfest 2007 up within a month. I put it off for a long time, and I’m now realizing how much work it’ll be. In taking pictures, I’d shoot first and ask questions later so I don’t miss anything. Therefore, lots of editing to be done.

Toonfest 2008 is coming on September 19-20, and I will be ready. I make no promises, but I hope to have that gallery up within a few weeks after Toonfest. One cartoonist showing up who’s not listed on the site is Tom Richmond, a cartoonist for MAD Magazine. He won’t be talking at the symposium, he’ll just be enjoying the festivities, and having some original MAD artwork in the gallery as usual. My art will be there too.

September 19-20th, two of my original comics will be on display at Toonfest in Marceline, MO(Lardy’s Jr. will be one of them). I will be there too, and would be happy to do sketches. Marceline is in northern Missouri near Kirksville and Brookfield. It’s also the boyhood home of Walt Disney, and the reason for Toonfest. Main Street USA was inspired by that very town.
There will be some big-name cartoonists there too, but the only one I recognize is Jerry Scott of Baby Blues and Zits. Ooo, gotta take my Zits book up there! Other artists speaking include Dave Coverly(Speed Bump), Jan Eliot(Stone Soup), and Greg Evans(LUANN). There’s a parade on Saturday morning with the cartoonists as the grand marshalls. RIght after noon, join us at the theater where the cartoonists talk about their work, their life, and cartooning in general. Very informative talks there. I especially recommend it for other cartoonists.

More information on Toonfest can be found at Toonfest.net. My photo galleries of past Toonfests can be found here. I’ll be updating you as the time gets closer.

That’s right, FOUR webcomics in total! Hmm, I wonder how this would translate to foreign papers, seeing as these webcomics aren’t in any other language. In fact, I think most newspaper readers wouldn’t get the references because they get their comics in paper form. I found out about this mention through Scott Kurtz’s Twitter feed, in fact.

Update: Here are the comics being parodied:

I like to go on long walks and listen to various comic-related podcasts.

In the latest Art and Story podcast, they mentioned how long certain crazes last… like M.C. Hammer. This doodle suddenly happened.
About Art & Story: Two comic book creators talk shop, often having really good tips for us cartoonists. Although, the tips are few and far between. I think it could be compacted quite a bit. The meat of the discussion is often 30 minutes into the podcast. I recommend it only to serious cartoonists, a bit more to traditional media artists. Good while inking or going for a walk.

My absolute favorite podcast, and most recommended for webcomic artists/writers, is Webcomics Weekly. Tips are PACKED into each podcast, and these guys are hilarious. I always have to give full attention to this one, and only play it during walks because I couldn’t possibly ink with this artist party going on. I also listened to this podcast on my walk.

After this 3 hour long walk(mostly lounging in the nice weather), I developed a sunburn on my face. Surprising, considering I stayed in the shade. It was worth it.

Hmm… this site looks a little narrow. And the comics got pushed off of the main page! (You can see my comics here)
Therefore, I’m working on a redesign to organize my sections more effectively, and to give my comics more space & visibility. I’ll be basing it on a much more up-to-date template, ComicPress 2.5, so I can take advantage of the latest advancements in WordPress, like tags and avatars. My current template doesn’t even support all of the plugins I’ve tried.
So far, the redesign is looking spiffy. You might see a few new things show up in the sidebar before the redesign since my theme-testing plugin doesn’t keep widget changes hidden.

I just wanted to let you all know before I get any complaints about the current disorganization. I’ve definitely outgrown the old template and have great plans for the future of this site.

FOUR NEW FULL-COLOR COMICS THIS MONTH! Here’s the catch: They’re PG-13.

Presenting The Kenny Chronicles, a new weekly comic aimed at teens and adults(*ahem*, Cinco De Mayo comic this Monday with Ren & Stimpy reference) that feature that black fox you’ve been seeing occasionally around here. New comics will appear each Monday at www.KennyChronicles.com in English and Spanish. I’m starting out with a 4-comic storyline already in the archive, and these links go to the first comics so you get it in the right order. The site is still being fine-tuned, especially the Spanish version. I’m providing the translation mainly to increase my fluency in Spanish. It currently takes 1.5 hours to translate, and I’m sure a fluent speaker could do it in 10 minutes.

What this means for WillYums.com:
All G-rated Kenny Chronicles comics will be re-posted here(tentatively starting May 12th). This will generally mean more full-color comics, guaranteeing at least one actual comic each month(in addition to the one-panel illustrations I often do). I will still do iSquish comics, as well as the occasional human comic.

New comics and illustrations will be posted as I do them, instead of posting them all at once monthly. Think of it as a sketch blog, with the occasional audio sketch or recipe. As for Kenny Chronicles, those comics will be posted at the same time as they’re posted at KennyChronicles.com.
You can subscribe to updates via email or internet portal(rss) by clicking here.

Also, expect some video in the near future.
