2008 Gallery coming..... I don't know, sometime.

I have a habit of wanting to hang out with famous cartoonists. My favorite event to do this at is Toonfest, in Marceline, MO. It's held on the third weekend of September each year. Marceline is famous for being the boyhood home of Walt Disney, and inspired many of his creations. Kansas Avenue was the inspiration for Main Street USA, and the main stretch has since been renamed to "Main Street USA" in honor of Walt.
I grew up in Marceline until 1st grade, and still visit it from time to time to see my dad. He invited me to Toonfest in 2002, where I got hooked on it. I missed the next two Toonfests due to financial constraints(it's a 5-hour drive!), but came back in 2005, and have been going ever since. More and more, the price of the gas to get there seems insignificant.

Below, you can browse my galleries and journals from past Toonfests...

2007 Glenn & Gary McCoy again, Jay Jackson, Ann Telnaes, and Kevin Pope. Uploaded to Flickr for simplicity, linked here over a year later for laziness.
2006: Chris Browne of Hägar The Horrible, Dan Pirarro of Bizarro, Lynn Johnston of For Better Or For Worse, and Mike Peters of Mother Goose And Grimm were the cartoonists this year, along with Pete Docter, the storyboard artist of Toy Story and director of Monsters, Inc. I wore my werewolf hat this year and took lots of pictures.

2005: Glenn & Gary McCoy of The Flying McCoys, Jim Borgman of Zits, and Tom Wilson Jr. of Ziggy were the featured artists this year, along with MAD Magazine artist Tom Richmond, animation historian Charles Solomon, and Imagineer Tony Baxter. I danced around in a fox costume.

2002: Mike Peters, and I don't know who else. This was my first Toonfest and I wasn't prepared at all. I finally found my original journal entry after the 2007 Toonfest. I would have found it much earlier, but I was SURE it was 2003 or 2004. I wasn't looking back far enough. You might see a few remnants of past guesses in various parts of this site.

SKETCH COLLECTION from all Toonfests. Ziggy dressed up like Weird Al? I sure think of some strange request ideas.
